I am adding an item to the database and it is asking for a Major and Minor Connection type. What are the appropriate abbreviations that are to be used?
and beyond that there is a selection for M or F and next to it there is a box with one letter in it. On the attached picture there is a T and a S. What are these letters referring too?

Hi,

The connection codes are all explained in Help|Help Topics - IRRICAD Database Editor Manual -> Database Details -> Database Codes, Symbols and Line Types.

Also note that you can make up your own connections codes and connection types. As long as there is another item with a matching code the fitting will be selected. In this way you can make IRRICAD select specific fittings in particular situations.

I would like to model dual emitter line fed with one riser.

I am having a difficult time creating a LTO assembly that will be chosen when computer selection of fittings is ran to produce a correct B.O.M.

We use a saddle that pierces the telescopic (PVC) submain, flex riser, male hose adapter, ball valve, and LDPE Tee's to facilitate the connection to the (LDPE)emitter line.

My understanding is that a LTO with the correct Major pipe type and Minor connection code/gender/type will be chosen by the program when asked to solve a three pipe junction, although, I cannot seem to trick the program into working for me. Do the fittings included in the LTO assembly have anything to do with whether or not the LTO will be selected?

Hi,

The fitting selection function does not know about the items contained within an assembly. What is important are the connection codes that are set, based on the items that will be at the inlet and outlet of the assembly.

However, one important field to enter correctly when using LTOs is the "Major Pipe Type" if you have more than one type of PVC. If the pipe the LTO is coming off is PV1, for example, then the "Major Pipe Type" has to be PV1 and not PVC.

In the case of your design with a central buried submain intersecting each lateral for best results create an LTO assembly that does not include the riser pipe or the tee at the top of the riser into the laterals. Set the minor connection type to match the riser pipe (in this case PVF) and make sure that a suitable tee that will connect to the riser pipe and tape/laterals is present and eligible for selection in the database.
