Hi all,
Not sure if this is a bug or if I am doing something improperly?
With version 14.16 I keep getting the following error on some of my projects
whenever I try to make a symbol from an existing design.
"Template and symbols should only be made with a database scale factor of 1.0.
Please reset the scale and try again."
I looked in the registry and it gives a value of 1.
I think maybe it has to do with merging older designs files into current designs?
This is something I do quite often to save time by pulling settings and details for
a client that requests the same setup as a previous project of theirs.
But now even after deleting all of the older design's layers it continues to give me the error that the
coordinate range is too large and to please correct and compress once I try to repair.
Not sure how to do this since the old design no longer exists in any visible way?!
I use the "show all" command with all of the layers turned visible, and it only shows my new design,
no strange artifacts or anything out of place. So I don't think there is something hidden somewhere.
However I must say all my non-solid lines and database pipes have become solid as well,
so there must be something left behind causing all of this scaling issue yes?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Scale Factor Issue
Hi Mike,
You cannot create a new symbol in a design that has an internal scale greater than 1. You can see this in Settings|Grid/Origin/GIS.
When the span of coordinates is greater than 12.5km (7.8 miles) the internal scale is 20.
For designs that do not physically span more than 7.8 miles turn on all the layers before using Select Window around your plan and then Invert Selection and Delete. Then run File|Compress. The internal scale will now be 1.
For plans that do physically span more than 7.8 miles simply create the symbol in a new design so it is available for use in the large design.

Re: Scale Factor Issue
Ok thanks for the quick response Jo, thanks to you it is fixed now!
I guess even using select all / view all there was one drawing
object that it was not selecting or visible; who knows?!. I ran across
it accidentally when I temporarily enabled user origin and put it to the
same coordinates as the internal offset and the object showed right up
and was then deleted.
Thanks again,
Mike
