hydraulic gradient line

Post by Miguel_l_e »

Hello
I have some doubts in the interpretation of the hydraulic gradient line of irricad,

1. is the pressure at the lower edge referring to the dynamic or static pressure at a certain point in the pipe?
2. What is indicated as limits, means the allowable nominal pressure limits of the pipe? (Attached image 2)
3. How is the interpretation when the line is below the natural terrain? (Attached image 1)

Thank you very much for clarifying the doubts

regards

Hi Miguel,

1. The pressure shown on the status bar as you move your cursor along the hydraulic gradeline is the dynamic pressure.
2. Yes, the ‘limits’ are based on the pipe pressure rating as per the database.
3. The interpretation of the HGL below the terrain is that there is negative pressure. You can also toggle off the terrain by clicking the [Elevation] button to see the gauge pressure on the Y axis if required.

I trust this helps.
