Layers stability

Post by Rob Leng »

I am running version 10.52.I have been having problems with stability issues in regard to layers (not to mention irricad dongle stability). For example i was just adding some text to a design and when i placed the text it was not visible, so i thought maybe i did not click the mouse correctly so i clicked again taking care. Still i could not see the text, frustrating. I then turned all layers on and found the text parked in ZONE JUNCTIONS layer, frustrating. This has occured on many other occasions with various items ie. when selecting a control valve the layer will sometimes change from the default in the selection box before my eyes without my input, frustrating. Alot of the time this can go un noticed and then it causes kaos later on as if the layer is on that the item has been miss assigned to and i then turn that layer off and do not immediately pick up that the item has disapeared i will be looking for it later on and wonder where it has gone and if i have accidentaly deleted it or actually placed it in the first place, this all chews up time and creates alot confusion and frustration.

Can this be fixed? I hope this is not a problem for other users.

Hi Rob,

We are aware of the text issue and hope to have it patched soon. In the mean time, you can 'fix' it by opening Irricad and typing 'TBO'. This will bring up the VisualCADD settings dialog. If you select Drawing|Text in the left hand tree view you should see some 'Text Display Properties' on the right hand side. In the layer combo, make sure the layer is set to anything other than "<current>".

As for moving things between layers accidentally, be aware that the layer combo is usually in focus when an edit dialog opens. If you move your mouse wheel, or hit a navigation key (arrows, page up / down), the layer will be changed. If this seems to be happening on its own, you might have a problem with 'sticky keys'.

Regards,

Dan

You can fix this problem now if you wish by uninstalling 10.52 and downloading the the Upgrade to V10.50 again and installing this - this will give you 10.54 with the TEXT layer issue fixed.
