Zero diameter or zero HW constant message...

Post by Pancho »

Dear IrriCAD Team,

I have been successfully using a DWG file along with its associated database. However, after saving the file under a different name and adding additional zones and mainline pipes, I encountered the following error message: "IRR> Message: Pipe has zero diameter or HW constant - please check," which subsequently halts further calculations. I have been looking for any error with no positive results.

I will appreciate your help.
Thank you.

Hi Pablo,

One way to find the pipe in question is to use the "Query" in the Database Editor.
The tab can be found after the "Nozzles" tab, after being turn on via Tools|Options - enable the "Show Query tab" option.
Once in the Query tab you can load standard queries from the dropdown or you can enter your own in the bottom panel.

For this task you will need to see the Components table. Copy the query
SELECT * FROM Components where [Database Number]=1
and paste into the bottom panel. Now action Query|Execute Query.
(Note that Database Number 1 contains pipes and tapes).

You can sort on different columns by double-clicking on the column header.
You can sort on internal diameter - the column name is Reals2.
You can sort on Hazen-Williams Roughness factor - the column name is Reals3.

If there is a zero in Real2 or Reals 3 you can correct this in the Query table by clicking on the required cell and entering the correct number.

If you can't find the issue please email your design to irricad@nelsonirrigation.com for assistance.

Dear Jovivier,

I followed the steps you provided and did not find any pipes with zero diameter or non-zero HW constants in the Real2 and Real3 columns. I have sorted the columns as shown in the attached picture. I will send my design to the email address you provided.

Thank you.
