Export to DWG

Post by design04 »

Hello everyone,
I’m a beginner user of Irricad.
I have a problem when exporting files to DWG format.
In the exported file, the text size is bigger than it appears in the Irricad program.
I want the exported text to keep the same size as in Irricad.
Please help me with this.

Thank you!

Hi,

IRRICAD Standalone uses different fonts than other CAD programs, and in labels these are embedded inside the label symbol. Here are some tips to help you export your label text more satisfactorily to DWG format:-

- turn off the background and border for the labels, and re-create the labels via Tools|Update Labels. When exported to dwg there won't be a background that is a different size to the label text.

- you can add additional carriage returns to the label text (via the Enter key after the last keyword), so that the background is longer than the label in IRRICAD but the required length in the DWG file. Then re-create the labels via Tools|Update Labels before exporting.

- you can set the label text to a unique font, different from other text that may be in the design. This will create a separate text style in CAD and provide more flexibility for setting the size and font of the imported labels. Note that each font used in IRRICAD Standalone will create a style name starting with "VC" and the font used, e.g., VC0_Modern No. 20.

- you can explode the labels (select all labels and use Modify|Explode) and map a different font in Settings|Import/Export Settings to end up with smaller text in CAD. Note that exploding the labels will 'break' them in the original design file so you might not want to save changes after this action.
