Rotating Contours

Post by Samantha »

Hi ya'll,

I've imported a dwg drawing with topo points, and then created contour lines in Irricad. My question now,is..is there a way to rotate the entire drawing (including contour lines/topo points) as a whole? I want to rotate it without messing up the true orientation of the points, but i've been told it's easier to work on designs, when they are squared off. Any help is much appreciated :)

Thanks,
Samantha

Hi Samantha,

You can temporarily change the origin point in IRRICAD (Settings|Grid/Origin), but you cannot temporarily change the rotation.
What you could do is place a point (or label a known point) to be your rotation origin, turn on all your layers and rotate using Modify|Rotate, clicking on this point as your origin. You can also type in a rotation angle (degrees from 0 which always horizontal out to your right) for precision which will also be best if you want to return to the original rotation. For example if you rotated the original drawing by 15 degrees, to go back to the original orientation, select the whole drawing and click on your 'origin' point, then type in -15 on the keyboard.
