LP Desogn and Analyze Zone give different results

Post by Jim Phillips »

I am doing a park pop up design.
I am working my way through the various differing turf and garden areas one at a time and as I locate the sprinklers, connect them up I then add them to the zone count. (Assign System Flows)
I then do an LP design, Valve analysis and a mainline design and get a good result.
My limitation and my reason for doing this design this way is so that I can stay within the mainline pressure and flow limits.
When I do a Zone analyse, my flows remain the same but a number of my zone pressures has jumped by 6 - 7 metres.
I have checked that all sprinklers are at the right pressure and that the pipe diameters are right. ZoneFlow rates are all similar. Zone pipework is the same. This is happening on 4 zones out of 13.
Design Config reflects the changes also
Any thoughts.

Hi Jim,

LP Design and Analyse use different methods to pick a suitable valve pressure during the processing. Analyse picks a valve pressure so that the outlet pressures are evenly distributed.
To achieve the same results that LP Design gave you simply set the pressures given in Design|Zone Design Configuration by copying from the "Actual Valve Pressure" column into the "D/S Valve Pressure" column.

Tip:
Click the name bar of the "Actual Valve Pressure" column to highlight all the pressures.
Use Ctrl + C to copy the actual pressures.
Then click the name bar of the "D/S Valve Pressure" column to highlight those column cells.
Use Ctrl + V to paste all the copied pressures into the "D/S Valve Pressure" column.
