surface models in Irricad Link

I am still new to using irricad but have experience using civil 3d. I have a dwg file that also has a lot of information created in C3D and I am trying to figure out how to create elevation information using the surface model and C3D created contours. For the heck of it I started drawing on the C3D contours and the irricad entities don't show any elevations. What is the process of converting the c3D model in Irricad Link without getting rid of the original C3D data, if possible? thanks!

I think the best way would be to use the SURFACEEXTRACTOBJECTS command.
  1. Select the Surface and a Surface Style that displays the Contours you want.
  2. Type the command SURFACEEXTRACTOBJECTS
  3. From the list check the items you want to extract (the contours) and click OK.
  4. This will extract the contours as polylines with an elevation (it seems like they default to the C-TOPO_MAJR and C-TOPO-MINR layers).
  5. Select the contour polylines and use the IRR_CONTOUR command to convert them to Irricad contours.
  6. Re-interpolate the Irricad surface

It worked as desired! On step 6, is there something special I have to do to re-interpolate?

Hi Fern,

Not especially unless you want to do it manually, to check for errors, for instance (there is a command). However, Irricad will do this automatically should you run any function that requires it (e.g., any design function, hydraulic gradeline, elevation profile etc.).
