Hello, everyone!
I'm working on a project using Irricad Link and have come across a few specific challenges related to the "Populate Legend" functionality. I'm seeking advice on the following issues:
a) I need to differentiate hydraulic network pipes from wires in the legend, using the Pipe option. How can I distinctly separate these two elements within the legend, reflecting their use across these two distinct layouts. How can I organize these elements within the legend to accurately represent their roles in each layout, ensuring clarity and eliminating any potential confusion?
b) My Project involves using the same pipes in both mainline and zones. I'm looking to prevent the legend from duplicating these pipe entries, ensuring each pipe type is listed once regardless of its use in mainline or zones. Is there a way within Irricad Link to achieve this and keep the legend concise?
c) Additionally, I want to increase the size of the symbols in the legend with the Symbols option, but without affecting the label text size. Could anyone guide me on how to independently adjust the symbol size?
I would greatly appreciate any guidance, tips, or specific settings you could share to help me navigate these issues.
Thank you very much for your assistance!

Re: Customizing the Legend in Irricad Link
Hi Sergio,
To answer your questions:
a) You can't currently automatically separate the wires from the pipes in the legend, except that the wires are always displayed after the pipes. The best way to make them distinct would be to use the descriptions and line styles/colours in the database. Another option if you want them truly separate, which admittedly is a little more work, would be to create a second pipe legend (use IRR_CREATELEGEND on an existing rectangle). Then, after populating your legends (IRR_POPULATELEGEND), explode them both and remove the wire info from one and the pipe info from the other.
b) By default, the legend should combine the same pipes from all uses. If yours are separate check the "Irrigation - Design Specific" settings, where there is an override to separate them:
c) Since the symbol and text for a legend record form a single "line entry" they need to be the same height in order to maintain the 'grid alignment' in the legend (to ensure the correct symbol is aligned with the correct text). Hence this is controlled by the IRR_LEGTXTSIZE attribute. The only current way around this is, again, to explode the legend symbol after creation and edit the Scale X and Scale Y values for the symbols.
Regards,
Dan

Re: Customizing the Legend in Irricad Link
Dear Dan,
Thank you very much for your detailed response and for providing the clarifications and steps to address my questions. It's unfortunate that the process cannot be automated further, necessitating manual adjustments as we currently do.
Best regards,
Sergio

Re: Customizing the Legend in Irricad Link
Hi Sergio,
We have had some other requests for new features in the legend creation tool. So it is possible we could incorporate some of these changes in future (e.g., add a Wires mode to go with Pipe and Combined). I can't give any specific time line for when / if that might happen, but I will add it to our feature request list.
Regards,
Dan

Hi Dan,
That's awesome news! Adding those features sounds like a great idea, and I'm all for making our tool even better. Can't wait to see where this goes. Thanks for keeping me in the loop!
