Opening Earlier Versions

Hi, A customer has sent me an old Irricad Version 8 design and I am having trouble opening it in Version 20. Can it be done?
Problem seems to be with the internal database. I get "Database Exception Error" and an "Unrecognised Database Format" on trying to load the design.

Hi David,

Opening V8 designs in newer versions appears to be working well. Please note that any designs pre- V13 will not have the internal files zipped in to the .DEZ format. The minimum required for a design in older versions was the .DES file, the .VCD file, and the .MDB file for the same file name. If you have only been sent the .DES file then you will not be able to open it. Hopefully your customer can send you the missing files.

Hi Jo,
I have all the files. It is the .mdb file that is causing the problem. Could it be corrupted somehow?
Thanks

Hi David,

It does sound like the internal database may be corrupted.

Alternatively, you can import the vcd file and, if you know the products, can convert geometric objects into the required hydraulic items.
