You may have received an email from Google regarding your Google Earth API key. Google has added additional security called “Application restrictions” which allows you to limit what can use your API key.
Our understanding is that if you have already set your “API Restrictions”, as per Step 6 in How To Acquire a Google Maps API Key (viewtopic.php?p=1418#p1418), and don’t share your API key outside your organization, you should not be faced with any unexpected bills.
However, if you wish to add this additional security the most logical option is “IP addresses”. You can restrict access to single IP addresses or IP address ranges, however your company will need to have a static IP address to avoid issues when the IP address is updated. Note that this option may not be practical if you are using your device away from your usual location.
