Zone/lateral pipe design

Hi,
I have a problem designing zones and don't know how to solve that, I will try to explain it.
I will use an example, I usually design Zone pipes in diameters 110-50 and in data base y mark these as Z, and Lateral in 32-20 these with L, when i "LP Design" zones the software only takes 110-50 for them all, giving errors, I HAVE to mark the 32-20 pipes with Z too and then it matchs a solution, but starts using 110-20 for zone and 110-20 for laterals, then i have to do a lot of manual work replacing pipes and re-designing.
How could i dodge this issue?
Thanks
Luis

Hi Luis,
"L" usage pipes are only selected for "Connected" spraylines, all other zones pipes will select "Z" usage pipes (even though you cannot draw an unconnected sprayline without their being at least one "L" usage code in the database).
LP Design is selecting pipes to try to meet the pressure tolerance (pressure window) for the outlets, and is also trading running costs against capital costs (IRRICAD uses Retail prices for your pipes) as well as being within the Velocity limit. Either your system requires larger pipes to ensure the correct pressure at your sprinklers, or requires Retail pipe pricing to make a finer selection (check that your larger pipes do not have a lower retail price than your smaller pipes). Remember that you can also set the valve pressure in the Zone Design Configuration table to ensure that the resulting outlet pressures are within the allowable minimum and maximum.

Jo

Awesome clearly, thanks!
If I wish to use laterals with more than one diameter I HAVE to use "Unconnected", it is impossible to use "Unconnected" and IRRICAD to only use "L", ain“t it? and, if I use "Connected" it is not allowed to bring more than one diameter per lateral, am i right?
Thanks!

Hi Luis,
You can specify how many lateral sizes you wish to use for "Connected" spraylines. This can be found in Design|Zone Design Configuration. You can specify up to 3 lateral sizes.
The number of allowable submain sizes is also specified in this table (0 means unlimited for IRRICAD in this case).
Regards,
Jo

Many thanks!
You have improved a lot my knowledge about IRRICAD and my strength to design.

i am a student.recently i have an assignment on pressurized irrigation design.i hv some data but i am confused how to proceed in irricad.here is the system in puts.help me in design through irricad
A field measuring 800 m x 400 m is considered for designing a sprinkle system. Field data indicates that irrigation depth of 5 cm should be applied weekly during peak water use period. There will be two 11 hours settings per day. It is desirable to complete the irrigation in six days allowing one day for maintenance of the system and other farming activities qa = 20 lpm and sprinkler spacing = 15 x 20 m2. Assume it is not desirable to use lateral longer than 400 m .

Afzal,
I suggest you work through the IRRICAD tutorials to learn how to use the required tools in IRRICAD that would be useful to your design project. As the tutorials with Version 9 are out of date with the new block entity tools I suggest you download the Pro Version 12 on-line help from
http://www.irricad.com/Irricad/Download ... adHelp.chm and go to the Tutorials section.
Version 12 does have many new features that Version 9 does not, however the block entities and subdivision tools are available in Version 9. To see the features available in Version 9, and how to use them, read the
Help|Release Notes.
