Can anyone tell me if the database of Toro tapes is ready to use in US units or do I need to make some changes to each tape? What is the best way to determine the emitter constant and emitter index? Most manufactureres only give 1 or 2 different pressures and flows for emitters and I need 3 or more to do a fit curve. Is the emitter constant (k) different for metric or US units?

Also, is the nominal specific discharge rate supposed to be based on the default inlet pressure that is listed above

The short answer is no, you will need to make some changes to each tape.

According to Toro, the dripper is physically the same - you can use the same constant and index - (except for DripMax, which may not be available in the US). Some tube is extruded outside of the US and so the internal ID and Kd may be slightly different. The spacing may need to be rounded for the correct US unit spacing.

If you have less than three sets of data for the Curve Fitting there are ways to estimate the constant and index but we don't recommend this. You will need to contact the manufacturer for more data.


The nominal discharge rate is based on the default inlet pressure and is only used as a guide in Management. If you are always using a higher inlet pressure then it makes sense to calculate the SDR on this inlet pressure.
