Hi All,

I am having issues adding new items to the Database Editor.
The problem is that when I add an item to the 'Couplers' component group, it allows me to do so, but the wholesale cost and retail price entry boxes are greyed out (Unable to enter info into them).
This is also happening to Items that are were previously entered into the database.
I noticed there is text just below the tabs (pipes, tapes, valves etc) saying: "Creating Assembly:" Although this is not what I am doing.
I have tried closing the Editor down and starting it up again. Tried copying an item in from another database. No luck so far.

I am running--
Irribase Version: 11.0
And IRRICAD Version: 12.02
CAD Version: 7.0.0.36
Dongle Version: 12.000

The problem seems to be that the coupler you have the cursor on when you select Add Item is an assembly. This means that the new item starts as a copy of the existing item and also thinks it is an assembly.
Make sure to have your cursor on a non-assembly coupler when creating a new item.

You can copy one component from another databse to this database by using Edit|Copy Component and Edit|Paste Component. Make sure the item you copy across is not an assembly.

Hi, I am having trouble creating my own database. I have copied chosen components from an existing "Irricad" database and pasted them into a database that I have created. I discovered an issue with my database after running computer selection of fittings. The "pipe type" field cannot be filled in and I suspect this is why the computer selection of fittings function cannot find the fittings for the connection. I have attached an image of the error message that I receive when I double click on a component in my database to view its attributes. I do not receive this error message when double clicking on the Irricad database. Any advice is much appreciated!

It looks like there are a couple of things happening here:-

1) Pipe Types
You have not yet set up a Pipe Fitting Matching Table in your brand new database file. Load the new database in IRRICAD and add the required pipe types in Design|Pipe Fitting Matching Table.
Alternatively in the Database Editor, in the Query tab use the "Show Pipe Types" query to view the table. You can copy and paste from an existing database into the new database.

2). Field Length
It sounds like you are copying components from a database that has 32-character warehouse code fields into a database that has 12-character warehouse code fields.
All databases saved in the Database Editor since Version 11 should automatically save with 32-character warehouse code fields. I suspect the database was created with 12-character warehouse code fields and therefore saving it an re-opening it should resolve this message. If it does not, run the Query "Set 32-character warehouse code fields" and save the database.

While familiarizing myself with the Query tab in the Database Editor, I inadvertently deleted the "Show Pipe Types" function. Is there anyway to fix this? I did not save changes and yet the "Show Pipe Types" function is missing in all database files I open in the Editor.

The query for "Show Pipe Types" is
SELECT * FROM PipeTable
You can then enter a name in the top "Query name" field and action Query|Save Query.

Estoy requiriendo ingresar database de tuberia Layfat para diseño en matriz y secundaria.
Tengo los datos de la ficha tecnica pero me gustaria saber que opciones colocar para llenarlo en irricad o se se cuenta con una database que ya incluya esta tuberia.

Entering New Pipes in to the Database

1. Running the database editor (Start|All Programs|IRRICAD|IRRICAD Pro Database Editor). Note the database the editor opens with is your default database – set in IRRICAD in Settings|Irrigation – Design Specific and clicking the [Save As Default] button.

2. Enter a new pipe by selecting Component|Add Item. IRRICAD will copy the pipe the cursor is currently on so if there is an existing pipe similar to the pipe you are adding to the database, click on this before selecting Component|Add Item.

3. A usage code is required for all items in the database if you want to be able to select this item in IRRICAD, either manually or during design or fitting selection. Most items have a Yes, No usage code, but pipes are designated to be used for either Laterals, Zone pipes, Flushing pipes or Mainline pipes. Laterals are connected spraylines, zone pipes are any pipes (other than laterals) used downstream from a control valve, flushing pipes will be eligible for manual selection and mainline pipes are all pipes used upstream from a control valve. Pipes can have more than one usage code; any combination of L, Z, F or M you wish. If the usage code is blank then this item cannot be used or selected.

4. Enter a name for your pipe, describing its basic qualities e.g., 2” (50mm) PVC Class 6.

5. Now enter a unique warehouse code for the pipe. This can be your ordering code or an inventory code.

6. Enter a supplier code (you can make your own in IRRICAD – Reports|Supplier Code Multipliers).

7. Enter a pipe type for your pipe, e.g., PVC, LDP etc. You can make your own in IRRICAD – Design|Pipe Fitting Matching Table but be warned IRRICAD uses this pipe type to select fittings.

8. The nominal diameter is the size the pipe is usually referred to by, e.g., 2” (50mm).

9. The actual diameter is very important to be entered precisely as this is the diameter IRRICAD uses in its pipe friction loss calculations.

10. The pipe roughness is the Hazen-Williams C factor, which can be found in Appendix B for all smooth pipes.

11. Enter the maximum allowable pressure as per manufacturers’ specifications for that pipe.

12. Enter a wholesale cost and retail price and select a plotting colour and line type for this pipe. Click the [Save] button .
