Designing on Scanned images

When doing irrigation designs for residential landscapes, you have to be able to get the design done quickly.
One of the Fastquote tools I find most helpful is the ability to draw the irrigation system right over a scanned image of a landscape. I get the homeowner to provide a scaled drawing of the landscape including lawns, patios, flower beds etc..., scan it into a jpg file and import it into Fastquote. Since they have done the image to a scale, it is easy to get all of the measurements into Fastquote at once.
Are any other Fastquote users doing this?
What other tricks do you have to make Fastquote work efficiently?
