Polygon from Autocad

Post by jbaselga »

Hi,
When I import a polygon from Autocad and tray to convert it to Irrigation area, Tape block entity or Tape block, the polygon I get is different from that imported from Autocad. It seem that number of vertexes of the Irricad polygon is much lower than those from the Autocad polygon, so that the areas are different.
Is there any solution for that?
Thanks

I have found that the limit of vertexes you can convert from a polygon to an Irricad entity is about 100. Many of my polygons from my present project are over 100 vertexes. Is there any way to manage this.?
Thanks

Hi Javier,

I wasn't aware of any such limitation. Could you please forward an example AutoCAD file to support@irricad.com? I'd like to investigate this.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Javier,

Thanks for the file. My apologies - I misunderstood your problem. Yes, when converting to an Area or Block entity, a complex boundary will be simplified to around 100 points. At present , this is an internal limit that cannot be changed. The simplification is performed in order to reduce the complexity of the "inside" testing for the water requirements calculations, particularly where nested areas are concerned.

The only way to get a closer match between the source polygon and an Irricad Area, should you require it, is to manually divide the larger polygon into smaller ones (the 100 point limit is for each Area polygon). This should be very easy in Irricad v14 using the line and the "Polygon Seed" tools (Draw|Polygon|Seed).

Let us know if you have any further trouble,

Regards,

Dan
