Snaps - Mid between 2 points

Post by Brent Byrnes »

The mid between two points snap function is something that I use in AutoCAD very regularly and often wish was available in Irricad. Great for creating a pipe centred between two row ends or two trees and many other things.

This can currently be achieved by using the VCADD 2-letter code of "S2".
For example, draw two lines a distance apart. Select Draw|Point and then type s2 on the keyboard. Click on each of the lines and a point will be placed mid-way between the two lines. This will also work if placing a drawing item between two pipes or valves. However, for your example it would be a two-step process because it will not work with hydraulic items - first use a point or line as your reference for a pipe starting midway between two items.

This feature will also be available in the AutoCAD add-on version due for release later this year.

It is a shame that this functionality is not available for hydraulic items. Currently if I'm feeling pedantic I'll draw a line between two points and then snap a hydraulic item to the mid point of the line but it would be great to do away with the extra steps involved in drawing a line snapping to the mid point and then deleting the temporary line.
