all of a sudden if I use modify/select/window or lasso the objects appear for a second then disappear. I can modify objects one at a time but suddenly I cannot select groups of objects.

Did I turn off something accidentaly?

What version of IRRICAD are you seeing this in? Does the issue persist after restarting IRRICAD or the computer?

We haven't come across this before so will have to investigate causes. Just to confirm, when you say "objects appear for a second then disappear" do you mean you briefly see the highlight colour before the highlighting disappears (like when the selection filter is on) or do you actually mean the objects you are trying to select disappear from the screen? If the objects disappear when do they re-appear?
Please confirm this also happens on geometric items as well as hydraulic items.

What is your background colour and your selection colour in Settings|Drawing Items?
If they are the same colour this would explain why the objects seem to disappear when you select them.
