It is often helpful to be able to see the file extensions (type of file) on your computer, particularly in instances where you need to copy a specific file type that may have a similar name to other files. Follow the steps below to enable the file extensions (Windows 10).
1. Open a File Explorer window.
2. Go to File|Change folder and search options.
3. Go to the "View" tab.
4. Uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types".
5. Click OK.
Now all file extensions/types will be visible in the File Explorer windows.
