GPS spot heights can be directly imported to IrriCAD, and 3D DEM viewer quickly calculates the correct shape. However the designer cannot tell what heights the spots are and therefore not estimate easily where the zone pipes should go.
Currently yet another extra program is required to create contour lines.
Can IrriCAD create the contour lines from spot heights in the near future?

Yes, we are planning this feature for Version 11, due out in the 1st quarter of 2011.

Currently (Version 10 onwards) you can turn on the Z Coord option in the Info Panel which will give you the elevation as you move the cursor over your design:
