Irricad running in background

Hi, It seems like V.18 Irricad will continue to run in the background after the program is shutdown, causing it to give me an error saying it is already running the next time I open the program. Is there a way to completely shut down Irricad so that I don't have to go into Task Manager to shut it down prior to opening it the next time?

Hi Corby,
Currently we don't know why this happens on particular machines. It may be related to the programs that are running and this may be the clue to helping us understand how it occurs. Does this happen all the time? If so, please let us know which programs are running at the time.
The only other way to avoid going into the task manager could be running a batch file that first closes down an existing Winicad.exe before running a new session of IRRICAD. The batch file would need to contain the 'kill' command:-
taskkill /F /IM "winicad.exe" /T
You can easily write a batch file in Notepad. After adding the line and saving it rename .txt to .bat and place it on your desktop.

Thanks for the update. Yes this happens everytime I close Irricad. I usually have the following programs open: Outlook, Excel, Chrome, Itunes, Google Earth, Folder & Edge.

Hi Corby,
The cause doesn't appear to be directly related to Outlook, Excel, Chrome, Google Earth, Folder (do you mean Windows Explorer?) or Edge. However, I have not been able to test the effect of Itunes. Can you turn Itunes off and see if the issue still persists?
The cause is likely to be something that you are doing or running:-
- are you running any programs from within IRRICAD via the User Tools menu (a short-cut that you may have set up)?
- do you regularly use View in Google Earth?
If you open IRRICAD and then close it (without doing anything), does the winicad.exe still remain lurking in the task manager?

Hi Corby,
In addition to what Jo said, it might also be Irricad "sub-processes" that are keeping Irricad 'alive'. Are you shutting down with the Google Earth import utility open? Or a report window?
Regards,
Dan

Well, it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. I'm not sure why. I normally don't use any shortcuts or use View in Google Earth functions. I always shut down the GE import utility window also. I tested it like you said and don't see it lurking in task manager anymore. I"m still running most of those programs that I mentioned. I tried it with Itunes on and off and now it seems to close down completely.
Not sure what changed, but I'll keep you posted if I see it happening again
Thanks
