calculate mainline dimension

Post by Postol »

How can Irricad calculate the mainline dimension if I have only a water source flow rate?

For IRRICAD to size the pipe, or do any hydraulic calculations, it requires a demand. The demand can be an outlet with nozzles or a special kind of outlet called a demand point, where you can specify the pressure and flow required at a particular location. There is a demand point available in both of the default databases supplied with IRRICAD, called Demand Point or Demand Flow.

At the water source you do not need to set any parameters for IRRICAD to determine the system requirements (this is the "Calculate Pressure?" option). However, you have the option of setting a known pressure, by unchecking the "Calculate Pressure?" option and entering the Design and Max heads, or setting a known flow by enabling the "Fixed Flow?" option and entering the Design and Max flow. When using the "Fixed Flow?" option you cannot set the pressure and the combined demand flows (from the zones) must equal the water supply fixed flow.
