Why does IRRICAD keep trying to install when I run it?

Post by jovivier »

Your virus checker has interfered with the IRRICAD installation and it has not installed properly. To overcome this issue please follow the below steps:

You may have noticed that your virus checker has quarantined a file called Surgef.exe. Surgef is used for the new digital elevation modelling. Please add an exception for Surgef.exe to your virus scanner.

After adding an exception, either:

A) Find where Surgef has been quarantined to and copy it to your IRRICAD folder, commonly located in C:\Program File\AEI Software\Irricad Pro 10. Note you will require administrator privileges to move this file.

or

B) IRRICAD will need to be uninstalled and re-installed to run properly:
1. Go to Start | Control Panel.
2. In Windows XP select Add / Remove Programs or in Windows 7 or later select Programs and Features.
3. Search for IRRICAD Pro xx, where xx is the version number, in the alphabetical list of installed programs.
4. In XP select IRRICAD Pro xx and click the Remove button; in Windows 7 right-click on IRRICAD Pro xx and select Uninstall.
5. Go to http://www.irricad.com/irricadpro/irric ... e-upgrades and find your Version. Look for the link that says "to install on a new computer or upgrade an older version" to download and re-install IRRICAD.
6. Install IRRICAD and check IRRICAD runs.

Re: Why does IRRICAD keep trying to install when I run V11?

Note : I have tried several times to submit this file to Trend Micro, so that it can be analysed and added as an exception in their anti-virus pattern file, and thus solving this problem for all Trend users from this point forward. However, their submission wizard doesn't seem to be working.

This file gets caught by Trend's "heuristic pattern" detector. Essentially, it "looks similar to some known malware", and so gets quarantined just in case. You may also be able to avoid this problem by turning off the heuristic detection, but please consult your IT security people first!
