Additional Materials/Costing

Post by MikeM »

It's probably trivial in the overall scheme of things. But I have been trying to figure out how to incorporate calculating glue/primer, teflon tape and such requirements based off the connection types and sizes in the database, through Excel.

While my overall design process is moving pretty smoothly especially since ver 9+, manually going through 'other materials' does add a significant of time to the design process.

It would shave some design time off by somehow creating a function of this in the automation process. Eventually could expand to include tools maybe with some user defined argumenting i.e. (if) R-10 FT2 LTO assembly found (and) poly tubing (then) include #9349 Red punch tool (qty one per 500 LTO's); you get the idea.

Also by associating a labor cost to the application of glue, teflon tape, etc. Could possibly reduce the frequency of the 'Computer selection of fittings' picking 2 or more fittings at a junction rather than just one solely based on the fact that it costs less. Because by the time you incorporate glue and the extra labor into assembling the components that would no longer be true.

Just throwing ideas your direction!
