how to import image (Tif,jgp) As background?

Post by aridzv »

Hi.
I'm new to Irricad, and taking my first steps.
I have a .Tif image that I want to use as background.

how do I import it to scale and properly positioned ?
I know the coordinates of the image corners - how do I position it correctly in irricad?

thanks,
Ari.

Hi Ari,

This can be achieved by using the keyboard to enter in the coordinates:-
1. Select the image to import via the File|Import Image option.

2. Click OK on the dialog.

3. You will notice that the task bar says "Image: Place lower left corner of bitmap". Instead of clicking on the screen simply enter the coordinates via the keyboard, for example 408050.80,5855049.37 - where the X and Y coordinate are separated by a comma but no spaces. Then press the [Enter] key.

4. Now type in the diagonal corner (the top right corner) coordinates and press the [Enter] key.
Your image should now display at the correct scale.

Note that images can be re-scaled by using the Modify|Scale Image option. This is the common method if the coordinates are not known. Simply click on the screen for the bottom and top corner placement and re-scale the image using the length of a known landmark or distance.

Also note that a TIF image containing geo-referencing information will be placed and scaled automatically.

Great, Thanks!!
one more question about .Tif image:
since TIF image containing geo-referencing information - is it possible to create the DEM from .tif?

Thanks,
Ari.

Hi Ari,

Note that having geo-referencing information does not imply that it contains any DEM / Height information.
However, there are ways that tif files can have layers that contain additional information, such as a DEM, however IRRICAD does not interpret additional information from this format.

Hi Irricad Team

I am having no luck importing a Georeferenced Tif Image into Irricad.

I go through the steps and end up with no Image imported, thoughts?

I have Irricad 20 Stand alone and have completed updates / patches

Tif Image is 24MB. Thoughts?

Hi Tim - are you sure it didn't import? The design might be zoomed way out.
