How to Enable File Extensions on your Computer

It is often helpful to be able to see the file extensions (type of file) on your computer, particularly in instances where you need to copy a specific file type that may have a similar name to other files.
Follow the steps below to enable the file extensions for Windows 11.
1. Open a File Explorer window.
2. Select “More” (or …) 3. Select "Options" 3. Go to the "View" tab.
4. Uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types". 5. Click OK.
Now all file extensions/types will be visible in the File Explorer windows.
Follow the steps below to enable the file extensions for Windows 10.

3. Go to the "View" tab.
