Curved Drip Tapes

Post by David Wright »

I have recently been working on a design where the client wanted drip lines installed around the edges of a centre pivot, following the curve of the outer wheel track. The pivot location and elevations where imported from Google Earth.
I used Tape Block and for Lateral Direction selected "User Defined" and also checked "Polyline"
Didn't work that well! Some times the drip lines ended up "curving" in the opposite direction. Sometimes they crossed over each other, sometimes they just stopped mid block.
I gave up and entered them all manually.
Is there a problem here or am I missing something?
Thank you

Hi David,

The Polyline option for curved tapes is sensitive to the draw direction of the user defined bent tape. Drawing the lateral direction from the other end may give a better outcome. Also, the start point and direction of the block lasso can play a part in this.

Another option is to draw a curve and then use Offset Copy to create the required layout. Then select the curves and action Zone|Tape to convert the curves into tapes.
