Maximum zone velocities

Post by Andres »

Hi,

It would be very interesting to be able to establish different maximum zone velocities depending on the pipe diameter.

Thanks.

Thank you for your suggestion, however Velocity design is a pipe-sizing method that uses the velocity limit to find the smallest pipe size that doesn’t exceed the specified limit. That is, the velocity is used to choose the pipe size. Therefore, the pipe size cannot be used to pick the velocity limit.

In a reporting sense, there may be scope for something along the lines of analysis reporting on different velocity violations for different pipe sizes.

Note that the LP Design option will select pipe sizes based on the outlet pressure requirements rather than the pipe velocity.

The thing is that we would like to limit the velocity in the pipes as follows:

To 1.0 m/s in 50 mm pipes.
To 1.2 m/s in 80 mm and 100 mm pipes.
To 1.5 m/s in 150 mm pipes.

Are you saying that this can only be done manually?

Thanks.

There isn't any way to do this in Design because only one velocity limit can be set.

However a custom report could be made that highlights different velocity violations for different pipe sizes thereby assisting you in finding pipes that may need to be changed.
