Adding Z data field to a costing report

Post by Luzvstaicer »

I'd like to add the z data field to a costing report in order to organize the BOM by above ground and below ground. Is it possible to do this? Thank you!

Although the elevation field (Z) is not an available data field or sort field in BOM/Costing reports it would not be able to give you what you require.

To sort the report on depth might be more what you are looking for, though this would require a programming change as it is not currently available at the moment. However, as junctions inherently don't have a depth, fittings cannot be recorded against a depth therefore there is unlikely to be an automatic solution to your requirement.

One manual option could be to use the "report by selection" function - select all the items at the required depth and generate a report for the selection. Be careful about selecting the junctions, so that their fittings are not included in more than one report.

Okay, I understand. Is there a reference somewhere that indicates what each data field in the report editor corresponds to? The item->database number doesn't correspond to the database number in the component table of the database. I was hoping to sort by that value to get the same item types grouped together.

Unfortunately there isn't any comprehensive Help available with the report editor. Because of this we offer to make the customised reports for you, as as current commitments and time allows as this task is outside of our normal priority support offering. Depending on the scope of the changes a small fee may apply.

In Version 19 we introduced a "component type" sort field based on a user-defined order specified in an updated Costing Reports Options. This is useful if components are required to be listed in a specified order or if only particular types of items are to be included in a custom calculation.

Grouping types of items together is achieved by specifying when a "Break Field" in the report should occur. This may be set to one or more component types in this example.
