Interpolate Elevations

Post by Gennaro Vellotti »

Could you please add a "Are you sure you would like to Interpolate Elevations" click OK. The number of times I accidentaly hit this button when going to zone design configuration, has made me drink more coffee, as I go and make a coffee every time this happens. I end up shaking from the coffee then keep hitting it accidentaly and it becomes a vicious circle.

On a serious note, it does happen occasionaly and would be nice to add something like this and I am sure it is quite simple to add.

Or see my other suggestion "zone design configuration"

Hi Gennaro,

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes we can add an "Are you sure you would like to Interpolate Elevations" message.
In cases where this option is clicked rather than the Zone Design Configuration table, we can add a shortcut icon to the toolbar for quick access to the Zone Design Configuration table.

Hi Jo,

Does their even need to be an "Interpolate Elevations" option?

When does IrriCad not automatically use this itself?

Interpolate Elevations is necessary if you add hydraulic items or more elevations. Zone and/or Mainline Design are meant to re-interpolate before design, however there may be circumstances where you do not require Design to be re-run but still want the 3D lengths of pipes to be updated (and you will receive a message to that effect).

We have added a message asking if you wish to Interpolate Elevations in the 10.60 patch which will be released shortly once testing is completed.

I am not sure it was clear what I was trying to say, and what Matt commented on. The command in picture below does not need to be there. It gets hit accidently when trying to select the command below it. Agree you need to re-interpolate, when you add hyd item or pipe, and when Irricad doe this, it is reasonably quick. Its when it does the whole lot again that is annoying, when you hit this button by accident.

What the "would you like to re-interpolate" should be on this command only, if your not getting rid of it, not when its an auto command, like when you change a valve location or submain pipe and you hit zone design anaylsis (auto interpolate), you don't want this pop up coming up, for a quick re-interpolate that has to be done, this would be even more annoying. :)

What Matt was trying to say, Irricad auto interpolates anyway, if you don't hit this command and try to do zone design, mainline design or DEM view, so why have it there. (or pherhaps its to prompt your to have a break :P )

The best solution to this problem would be not to rush through and click away madly.

Remember ...think before you click
