Adding New Column

Post by eaguilar »

Hi all,
I'm Currently attempting to update my Irricad Database. I want to add a new column named Step to each tab (i.e. Pipes, Tapes, Valves ...) I've tried writing multiple Query codes, but have been unsuccessful. The new Step column would contain a 3 digit number. Any suggestion are highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Ester

Hi Ester,
As the IRRICAD database is a MS Access Database in theory you can add additional columns. However the new column would only be visible in the Query window.
What situation are you wanting to solve with the addition of the "Step" column?

Thank you for responding Jovivier,
I'm attempting to create a database that is more user friendly when it comes time bill. Currently when an IRRICAD inventory list is printed out it is manually inputted into a billing program. The billing program places each item into a different category according to is usage. Each category is defined by a step. My overall goal is to create a step column in the IRRICAD Database that will print out alongside the quantity, Description, and Part number when the inventory for a design is printed. This way the billing program can automatically look at the parts and input them into its appropriate category/ Step.

The best solution might be to export the bill of materials list from each design directlyto a csv file which can be opened with Excel.
If the "Step" information is to do with the item type (e.g. pipe, valve, fitting, etc) we may be able to add this to the custom report template.

Thank you JO,
I'm just getting the hang of IRRICAD and I'm unsure where or how to alter the Report Template. I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Best Regards,
Ester

Hi Ester,

Editing the report template is best done by ourselves because there is no written help to assist you with this.
If you can provide the information that determnes the "Step" of each type of item we can see what can be done in the report template.
You can email this information through to Support@IRRICAD.com.

Regards,

Jo
